Soluble or insoluble?
In SITE we learnt about new vocabulary: soluble, insoluble, solute, solvent and solution. The baking power (solute) mixed with the hot water (solvent) caused a surprising reaction!

SITE LAUNCH
Year 5 have begun their SITE focus on 'properties and changes of materials' with an experimental observation on thermal conductors and insulators. Year 5 thought the ice on the metal would stay a solid for longer as it feels cold, but they learnt that heat/energy always travels to a colder place.…

SITE parachutes

Christmas Tree Festival
Year 5 at Bramham have been busy making Christmas decorations for our school's Christmas tree at the Bramham Christmas Tree Festival. The festival on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend - go and check them out!

Leeds Grand Mosque
Bramham and Shadwell's Year 5s had a brilliant trip to Leeds Grand Mosque as part of our RE focus on Islam. It was very interesting, and they all asked very inquisitive questions.

Forces Launch
Year 5 had an exciting and edible launch to our SITE focus on forces. We used maltesers to see who had the strongest 'force'. The children learnt about balanced and unbalanced forces.

Showing our maths
On Tuesday we began addition and subtraction. We used counters to show the place value columns and add on counters to create new 6 digit numbers. This helped the children add mentally in following lessons and understand the difference between numbers.
