Kung Hei Fat Choy

Kung Hei Fat Choy!

Class One have enjoyed celebrating and learning all about Chinese New Year. This year is the year of the pig.

This morning the children listened to some information about traditional ways to celebrate the New Year. We found out that in China, people clean their houses to get rid of any bad luck and decorate with colourful lanterns and banners to bring in the New Year.

In maths the children used 2D shapes to recreate images of Chinese dragons; we learned this is a symbol of good fortune.

We also enjoyed tasting some Chinese food such as noodles and dipping sauces. The children were not so keen on the traditional cookies though!

We liked watching the videos of the dragon dances and later recreated some of our own using musical instruments.
