Reversible or Irreversible
Year 5 have been learning about a range of reversible and irreversible changes in SITE. For this experiment we explored what would happen if we mixed vinegar and bicarbonate of soda together. The children predicted that the balloon would explode due to a chemical reaction occurring causing the liquid to fizz up and create a gas. Therefore we decided it would be best to do our experiment outside - the children were very nervous! We found out that the balloon simply inflated however if we added more of the mixtures, the balloon would have exploded! Year 5, was this experiment reversible or irreversible? How do you know?
