Where do I fit in the world?

This half term the focus of our learning has centred on developing knowledge about the geography of the United Kingdom.  We have improved our skills in retrieving information from an atlas, to check the location of the towns and cities that we already know about.  The children have enjoyed working with each other and have become increasingly confident at quickly finding the correct page in their atlases.  

We have also enjoyed finding out about the rivers of the United Kingdom. Children have used their growing maths skills to plot these on bar graphs, which has allowed us to compare the lengths of the longest rivers in the United Kingdom. Ask us about which are the longest rivers in the United Kingdom. 

Alongside our geography work, the children have looked at how we can recycle old magazines to create works of art. We have learnt about the collage work of Eileen Downes and Megan Coyle. The children then looked at images of local areas and have worked on creating landscape collages.  Come back soon to see our finished works of art!
