Earth Day Gardening

Year 5 enjoyed spending time outside planting sunflower seeds on World Earth Day. We are going to look after them, watch them grow and plant them in our garden. We experimented by placing lots of seeds in one and less in another as the children wondered which would grow best.

In science, the children have been discovering the properties of iron. As well as discovering it is the main magnetic metal, the children discovered it is a metal which rusts very badly. With our science heads on, we want to know what makes iron rust so badly!

Alien Soup!

Alien Soup has been delivered to Class 5, and we wanted to work out what it was made of. We used the scientific methods we'd learnt about to separate the materials to their original forms. The flour in some children's soup was unfortunately not a reversible change!
