WW2 Cooking Lesson

Year 6 spent the afternoon having their cookery lesson. They learnt a variety of cooking skills, including 'the claw' knife skills, peeling, grating and weighing using a mechanical spring cooking scale. The children then applied these skills to make carrot cookies following a WW2 recipe. It gave the perfect opportunity to put our learning on rationing into context; recognising how a little was made to go a long way, and how citizens on the homefront had to be creative with their recipes to have little treats. The cookies were a delicious success!
