Thwaite Mills 2018
Class 6 visited Thwaite Mills last week. We had a brilliant day filled with fantastic workshops learning about World War 2 on both a national and local scale.
The day started at school and we were back in our evacuation outfits ready to start the day! Once at Thwaite Island, we were divided into small groups and did workshops on British life at home in WW2, rationing and money and a tour of the mill where window putty was produced during the period. We then had lunch, which parents had thoughtfully prepared to suit the day. We then had a craft workshop, making our very own gas masks and finally we got to see the water wheel/mill in action.
A truely wonderful day with lots of learning - we are absolutely making the most of our WW2 topic!
