Shape detectives
In maths, class one have been investigating different 2D and 3D shapes. We explored the classroom and outdoor area to find different 3D objects. We then worked as a team to try and name as many of the shapes as we could. We found a variety of spheres, cubes and cuboids but not many pyramids!
We have also be looking at sorting 2D shapes into categories. At first we could only find one or two ways to group the shapes but when we worked together we discovered many different ways such as size, colour and number of corners.
We really liked the messy maths shape activity. We used shaped sponges to create a repeating pattern.
Can you guess which shape will come next in the pattern?
