The Digestive System
Class 4 have been learning about how we digest our food and how the nutrients are taken from it and are transported around our body. We used a tube of tomato puree to demonstrate how the oesophagus squeezes food down to our stomachs (freezer bag) after our teeth have broken it down and we have swallowed it. There, stomach acid (coke) breaks down the food further before moving into the small intestine (tights) where the nutrient rich liquid is released in to the blood. The large intestine then bulks up the digestive matter before releasing it from the body as waste.
