This week we have continued our work on humans and other animals by discussing the idea of obtaining nutrients from the food we eat. To learn about how humans get nutrientsome from their food, we made a model of the human digestive system. Linking in with our English work on instructional writing, the children followed step by step instructions which enabled them to understand how food is broken down in the stomach. The children enjoyed this activity and it really helped us understand how the food we eat can be used by our bodies, or indeed how waste food leaves the body.
