Y5/6 Girls Football City Finals (25/5/18)
25 May 2018
Last night the girls’ football team competed in the Leeds City Football Finals at Priesthorpe High School. We played Holy Family Primary in the semi-final. Even though they beat us 7-0 earleir in the season, the team have progressed since then and looked really solid and confident against a really strong team. Even though we lost, it was only to a 1-0 scoreline, which shows just how far the team have come! We then played in the 3rd place play-off against St Paul’s Primary. St Paul’s were able to take the lead early on, but Connie managed to equalise before half time! Despite falling behind again, the girls were able to equalise towards the end with a great strike from Paige from around the half way line; a contender for goal of the season! Further committed defending from all the team saw the game through to extra time. Although the girls lost in extra time 3-2, they should be so proud of all their efforts throughout the year! To finish 4th in the city is a phenomenal achievement, and they’ve inspired girls throughout the school to take up football and be just like them!

We played Bardsey and were able to get off to a positive start, taking the lead in the first quarter. Bardsey were able to fight back and were leading going into the final quarter of the game. Despite trailing, the team stayed together and managed to pull out the win with two late points from Jacob! The whole team showed great passing and moving, with brilliant rebounding to limit the opposition’s chances, well done everyone! It means we've won 3 out of our 4 games this season!

What a fantastic result!
Y5/6 Netball away at Deighton Gates (4/5/18) Lost 6-3
4 May 2018
As the team looked to get lots of matches in, we travelled to Deighton Gates for the second match in two days! Although the game was close, it was the opposition who made their chances count, especially in the third quarter where they scored 4 of their points. Still, we shouldn't be too disappointed as we played just as well as previous games and are in a good position in the league.

2 May 2018

We got a great result in the first game, despite going down, we equalised with a goal from Issy from a corner. The second game was highlighted with a great run and finish from Lucy! Even though we lost the second game, we did enough to finish in the top four of the league in the whole of Leeds and qualify for the City Finals! What a fantastic achievement!
Y5/6 Boys Football at home vs Bardsey (25/4/18) Lost 5-2
25 April 2018
In the last match of the season the boys team played Bardsey. Although we didn't get the win, it was close right up till the end, where we were only caught out because we pushed forward for the win ourselves. Still, the boys should be so proud of how far they've come as a team this season; they've persevered when it's been difficult and worked well together, and that's what really counts! Well done boys, we're really proud of you!

Y5/6 Girls Football match at home vs Holy Family (23/2/18) – Lost 7-0
23 February 2018
On Friday the girls’ team went into a tough match against Holy Family. Boosted by Tuesday’s win, even though we knew it would be a difficult game, we went in with a positive outlook to try and stop one of the best opponents we would play this season. The game started well, with chances for both teams, Lucy was unlucky to see her shot go straight at the keeper. Although Holy Family were 3-0 up at half time, two of the goals were preventable and another was right at the end of the half. Our committed defending continued into the second half, with the girls giving everything to try and stop the opposition attackers. Despite our best efforts, Holy Family took control and managed to score further goals. We had a couple of chances on the break, and hopefully the scoreline wont detract from a very good performance from our girls; they never gave up and kept going to the end, we have more games next week which will no doubt see positive results!
Y5/6 Girls Football match away at Alwoodley (20/2/18) – Won 2-1
20 February 2018
In their first game of the new half term, the girls’ team travelled to Alwoodley in what they hoped would be a productive league outing. We looked really solid from the start, with Paige, Tilly and Sienna defending brilliantly. Connie had some good chances but was unlucky to hit both the post and crossbar. The team found the breakthrough part way through the half when Sienna controlled and crossed the ball from the left corner, finding Connie, who fired passed the keeper. The second half continued much of the same; Bramham had some more chances and were able to increase their lead when Connie’s cross was bundled over the line by Lilly.Alwoodley were able to pull one back with a great strike into the top right corner, but ultimately the girls closed the game out well to get a great win, which sees them go joint third in the league!

Y5/6 Girls Football away vs Wetherby St Joseph’s (12/1/18) – Won 6-0
12 January 2018
Having travelled with the boys’ team to Wetherby last week, it was now the girls’ team's turn to play a league game. It being the first game after the Christmas break, the team were keen to get off to a good start and continue their progress in the league from the Autumn term. We were able to get of to a great start, when three goals from Connie early on gave Bramham the lead! A fourth from Lilly after Sienna had hit the post meant the team had a good lead at the break.Having Bella in goal and Paige in the middle always gives the team a solid base; today we decided to swap positions around to give players experience of playing in different positions, and although Bella kept making saves in goal, it was Paige’s dummy to Poppy which led to Bramham’s fifth. Connie added her fourth, and the team’s sixth later on, but the team performance on the whole was the most pleasing aspect of the game. What a great start to the new term!
Y5/6 Boys Football away vs St Joseph’s Wetherby (5/1/18) – Lost 4-0
5 January 2018
The boys’ team got the New Year underway with a trip to Wetherby for a league game. Having lost by quite a bit earlier in the season, the team were keen to show that they’d improved. Despite conceding early on, the team held it together well, and were able to push forward themselves, with Tom hitting the post, as well as flashing another shot wide. Even though St Joseph’s added another before the break, the team were playing well. The second half saw Bramham push forward even more in search of a come back; even though it never came, the team looked a lot more solid as a unit. Despite Wetherby adding two goals in very quick succession, the team didn’t fold, keeping their shape and composure. The boys keep getting better with every game, and should be very proud of the progress they’re making!
Y4 Football match at home vs Shakespeare (28/11/17) Lost 11-0
28 November 2017
As part of our efforts to increase the opportunities to participate for all children our Y4 children participated in a football match against Shakespeare. It was a lot of children's first time playing football but they demonstrated lots of effort and enthusiasm in tricky conditions against a very good team. The experience will definitely help as they look to participate more next year.

27 November 2017
This year we took a boys and girls team from each Y5 & Y6 class to the Cross County Regional Tournament at Cardinal Heenan High School. It was brilliant to see so many children running for school! The conditions were very muddy and slippery, but we all did our best and ran fantastic races. An extra special well done to Alfie in Y5 as he qualified for the City Finals as an individual runner, what a great achievement!
Y5/6 Boys’ Football match away at Primrose Lane (14/11/17) – Lost 6-1
14 November 2017
In the latest boys gave we travelled to play Primrose Lane in the league. We started the game the best we’d played out of any game this season and looked very organised and committed. We were unlucky to concede the goals we did to be losing 2-0 at halftime.Although Primrose scored some more in the second half, we kept it together defensively and didn’t let the game get away from us. We also grabbed a goal ourselves when Issaac put in a rebound from Tom’s shot! It was clear to see how much the team are progressing throughout the season and we played really well. Well done boys!
Y5/6 Girls Football match away vs Deighton Gates (9/11/17) – Lost 4-1
9 November 2017
In their latest fixture the girls’ team travelled to Deighton Gates for a league game. The team were used to playing on their smaller pitch, and this, the first away game of the season, saw the girls compete on a bigger pitch for the first time. Additionally, Deighton Gates have a good team who are able to take the ball forward well.Despite the challenges, the girls played well and the initial outlook was a positive one as they matched the opposition throughout the first half. They were unlucky to get caught out on the break twice towards the end of the first half. The girls were playing brilliantly; Paige was organising the defence really well and we were getting more chances in the second half. Bella pulled off some great saves in the second half to keep the game within reach, and when Connie halved the deficit it looked like we had every chance to take something away from the game.Unfortunately, as we pushed for an equaliser we were caught on the break again. Although we lost it was the best performance from the team that we’ve seen all year! Well done girls!
Y5/6 Girls Football match at home vs Holy Rosary & St Anne’s (31/10/17) - Lost 3-0
31 October 2017
The first football game back after half term saw our girls’ team host Holy Rosary & St Anne’s on Tuesday. A shorter game because of the weather set a more frantic pace to the match, with both sides more open defensively than they otherwise would have been. It was Holy Rosary who made the breathrough early on, scoring two goals in quick succession. Paige managed to pull one back from a Connie throw-in. Holy Rosary, however, put the game beyond reach as they got a third late on as Bramham pushed for an equaliser. Still, it was a good performance from the girls in what were tricky conditions.

18 October 2017
Our girls’ football team played a home game this week as they hosted Bardsey. The game started well with goals from Connie and Poppy giving the team a two goal lead. Some great defending from the team kept Bardsey out during the first half to make the score 2-0 at half time. The second half saw a Bardsey fight back as they clawed back to make the score 2-2. The girls didn’t let that shake them, however, and they kept pushing forward. It seemed like the ball just wouldn’t go into the Bardsey net, with their great defending and Bramham hitting the post on a couple of occasions. The breakthrough did happen, however, when Connie’s low shot found the bottom corner. It was a great, hard fought win, with the girls definitely earning the result. Well done girls!

12 October 2017
The boys played their third match in the space of a week last night as they hosted St Joseph’s Primary School on our field. Y5/6 Girls’ Football match at home vs Deighton Gates (11/10/17) – Lost 6-2
11 October 2017
Our girls’ team played Deighton Gates on the field last night. Even though we lost, it was close. There were just a couple of key moments which didn’t go our way. Our goals were scored by Connie and Poppy; we were unlucky a couple more chances didn’t go in the back of the net, but the potential is there for the rest of the year. We’re still having a great season having won two out of our first three games, and we’re looking forward to playing more matches next week.
Y5/6 Boys’ Football match at home vs Primrose Lane (10/10/17) – Lost 9-0
10 October 2017
In their second game of the season, the boys played a home game against Primrose Lane Primary School. The boys’ team are learning fast and it was clear to see that they had learned from the previous game and were improving all the time. They were unlucky as Primrose Lane wore us down in the second half and scored some goals in quick succession. Still, they’re not to focus on the score line as it takes away from all the positives from the game!
Y5/6 Boys’ Football match away against Deighton Gates (5/10/17) – Lost 7-0
5 October 2017
The boys’ football team played their first match of the season, away at Deighton Gates this week. Although the result didn’t go our way, there were lots of positives to build on for the rest of the year. We’re a new team and we’re still learning; the boys showed great resilience and stuck together, even when things didn’t go their way.
Y5/6 Girls’ Football at home vs Immaculate Heart (28/9/17) – Won 9-0
28 September 2017
The girls’ football looked to build on their fantastic result in the previous game as they hosted Immaculate Heart Primary on Thursday. Determined to prove the last game wasn’t a one off, the team started with intent, and it required two good saves from their goalkeeper to keep out Connie and Lilly early on.Bramham pressure eventually told however, when they made the breakthrough. The team were able to add to their lead before half time with some more good strikes to make it 5-0 at the break. The final score was 9-0 to Bramham, but credit to Immaculate Heart who never gave up and showed some good signs on the break. Goalscorers for Bramham were; Connie (4), Lucy, Lilly, Paige, Sienna and Tilly. Well done girls on another brilliant result!
Y5/6 Girls’ Football at home vs Meanwood (21/9/17) – Won 8-1
21 September 2017
The girls’ team got their season off to a start when they hosted Meanwood Primary School on Thursday. We had five new players in the team making their football debut for school, with five players returning having been a part of the school’s first ever girl’s football team last year. The game started evenly, but Bramham had some chances; the opposition goalkeeper made two brilliant saves to deny Lilly early on. The deadlock was broken when Connie dribbled from the half way line to slot the ball away; possibly the goal of the season already! After Lilly had doubled the lead, Connie added the team’s third, with what looked like an exact replica of her first. Connie completed her hat trick before half time with another good finish, making the score 4-0 to Bramham. The second half saw the girls add to their lead through goals from Lucy (2), Poppy, and another from Lilly. Meanwood were able to grab a goal late on but the girls were still delighted with their excellent performance. Everybody played brilliantly and it will hopefully be a confidence boost as we look to build in this against Immaculate Heart next week.
