Meet Our Governors

Meet Our Governors

Mrs Morgan

Co-opted

I was a teacher for 26 years followed by working for 12 years as a senior officer managing SEN services for the LA prior to my retirement in 2012. I have therefore had a good deal of experience in all areas of school life including the quality of teaching, the evaluation of data leading to school improvement and the delegation of school funding. I have been Chair of Governors at the school for a year but a Governor, first at Bramham and then at the Federation, for 15 years. I am also chair of EPOSS cluster. As a team manager for the LA I also had a good deal of experience of performance management; and am currently one of the head teacher performance management governors. The Governing body are continually engaged in reviewing the curriculum, staff structure and strategic direction of the school to ensure that it fully meets the needs of our pupils. They have been instrumental in the implementation of a rigorous staff performance management system and are unrelenting in ensuring the highest possible standards of teaching and learning.

Mrs Dent OBE

Co-opted

With 40 years’ experience working in the public sector, I retired as Director of City Development at Leeds City Council in 2010 and since then have been a governor of the Bramham and Shadwell Schools Federation. In my role as Director I had responsibility for a wide range of development, regeneration, cultural and recreation activities in the city and in ensuring the economic and cultural growth of Leeds. I am a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and, in January 2011, was awarded an OBE for services to local government. I am also a governor and chair of the Audit Committee at Leeds Beckett University and I am a trustee and vice chair of the visual arts charity responsible for The Tetley in Leeds.

Mrs Mills

I have lived in Bramham for 12 years and my son attends Bramham Primary School. I am passionate about doing all I can to help the children of the Bramham Shadwell Federation. As a governor I will support both schools as they continue to thrive and achieve excellent well-rounded educational outcomes for all the children in a supportive learning environment. As a chartered accountant, now running a commercial property business, I bring strong communication, numeracy, analysis and team working skills to my role as governor. I have been significantly involved in Friends of Bramham School for the past 4 years - both as its treasurer, and more recently its chair for 2 years. This role has enabled to me to develop a valuable understanding of the Federation, its ethos and key areas of focus. I strongly believe that schools play a vital role in establishing vibrant local communities, which benefits the children and their families, and in my role as governor I hope to help develop the Federation's community links further.

Mrs Richards

I have lived in Bramham for over 30 years and have always enjoyed living in this thriving community. I have been involved in many activities in the village including drama and the allotments. I am also on the village hall committee and as Chair of the Parish Council I am always looking for ways to support all residents. Bramham is fortunate to have a school which is prospering and growing and I look forward to helping that progress continue as a school governor.

Mr Irwin

Parent Governor

I have lived in Clifford for over 10 years, and run a digital & print publishing business based out of Scarcroft. I joined as parent governor in February, inspired by my two boys recently joining Bramham Primary, both of whom are loving life in Reception and Year 1. I have a degree from Leeds University, a wide range of commercial experience across variety of sectors, an MBA from Cranfield, and an unhealthy obsession with Sport! It is a blessing to live in a village with access to such a good collection of primary schools, an invaluable thing for the area and for our children. Hopefully I can contribute to the continued development of the schools at Bramham and Shadwell

Dr Archbold (Miller)

I am a senior lecturer in the psychology of physical activity (PA) and health and have seventeen years’ experience in the University sector. I have led undergraduate programmes for several year before course leading the MSc in Physical Activity and Health (4 years). My PhD was in children and family’s health related behaviours (in high health needs). More recently, I have worked with multiple stakeholders (Public Health England, Sport England, Yorkshire Sport Foundation) in the design, implementation and evaluation of PA and well-being approaches for children, schools, and wider community stakeholders. I was involved in a ground-breaking programme (CAS) to promote physical and mental wellbeing in primary schoolchildren. The Creating Active Schools (CAS) framework is the first UK-based whole-school physical activity framework of its kind. Developed with the expertise of 50 regional, national, and international stakeholders, it is now being implemented across primary school regions. Reinforcing the importance of CAS, I lead the UK arm of an Erasmus+ strategic partnership for higher education programme (ACTivate). Activating classroom teachers is a European-wide program to develop an evidence-based teacher training programme. To develop teacher’s capability, opportunity, and motivation to integrate physical activity into their academic lessons- through physically active learning. I am a local resident of Clifford and my twins are enjoying their time in year 1, Bramham Primary. Going forward, I look forward to supporting the development and progress of both schools.

Mrs Adams

I have lived in Clifford since 2008 and have 2 daughters who are both very happy to attend Bramham primary school. I believe that the primary school environment children are exposed to plays a critical role in their future. As such I will endeavour to contribute to the continued supportive learning environment provided by the federation across both schools. As a governor I will bring communication, leadership, analytical and creative thinking skills from my career across all areas of technical leadership in the food industry. As a family we are very active, spend lots of time outside and have plenty of pets to keep up busy.
